Alcohol Treatment Centres

During your admissions assessment with One40, prior to Checking into one of our alcohol rehab centres, our team will help you determine the right course of action to take in order to recover from your level of addiction dependence.

Dependent drinking is probably the hardest pattern to break and reverse. When you feel unable to go through day to day functions without drinking, then it is wise to consider alcohol treatment centres to help cure you from your dependence.

One40 is a good place to start when looking for a professional treatment centre with flexible programs that can truly help you get past your addiction—whether it be alcohol, drugs, or any other controlled substances.

Alcohol misuse comes in different forms and abusers have different levels of dependency

Treatment at One40 clinics, therefore, will be tailored individually, depending on how your drinking has become harmful to your own health and the hazardous effects it has had psychologically on you and to the people around you.

Treatment options also address key emotions including, fear, anger, pain and shame that may be keeping you in a negative place of questioning whether you want to give up drinking completely, or the denial that; you believe that by merely trying to drink less or control your intake you can continue using.

One40 have the empathy and experience that can help clients that are facing these painful emotions, in our supportive and safe therapeutic environments, we help in the reduction of these feelings and the negative thoughts and actions that are associated to them and provide solutions that take away the need to fix them in a harmful way.

We often find that when an enquiry is made by a potential new client, that they have already tried various other routes to try to stop drinking. Many feel that checking into alcohol treatment centres may not be necessary when you only have increased risk of dependency; possibly they falsely believe that a treatment centre is the last option. Many clients will have tried unsuccessfully some of these alternative interventions:-

  • Go to a GP/Doctor and ask for medication to assist with depression and sleep deprivation.
  • Ask a GP/Doctor for a home detox and to go on a waiting list for CBT counselling

Short counselling sessions, also called brief interventions, which often occurs after an injury or accident caused by your alcohol use. (Don't wait for this sort of occurrence before you decide to take counselling sessions with a General Counsellor for your alcohol use.)

Brief interventions:- typically last for 6 sessions of only 50 minutes, wherein your general counsellor will help make you understand the risks that come with your own pattern of drinking and give you advice on how to reduce the amount of alcohol you take in or how to eliminate drinking from your daily routine altogether. You may also be advised to join support networks that can help you through emotional issues that involve your drinking.

It is often the case that at One40 we see new clients that have been unsuccessful in achieving abstinence via these means; often their drinking will reach higher levels due to thoughts and feelings of failure and low self esteem.

Higher-risk drinking, is the consumption of harmful amounts of alcohol (more than the recommended weekly amount—14 units for women and 21 units for men). This pattern of drinking may cause a long list of health problems and calls for immediate medical intervention to moderate and reduce alcohol intake towards total abstinence.

We can only advise you of our expert knowledge that giving up drinking altogether when you are a high-risk drinker (under medical supervision,) will give you greater health benefits. We can tell you:-

That it is wrong to think it is easier to cut down, than to stop altogether. To many, moderation is a more realistic target or at least an easier step to take on the way to complete abstinence.

In fact by going into treatment, total Cessation of drinking is easier & strongly recommended if you are already experiencing medical problems like liver damage, heart disease, and other conditions that can worsen because of excessive alcohol intake.

Dependent drinking is probably the hardest pattern to break and reverse. When you feel unable to go through day to day functions without drinking, then it is wise to consider one of our national alcohol treatment centres.
