Compulsive Overeating

Compulsive Overeating is defined as uncontrollable eating with intense feelings of shame and guilt that follow. Recognising that someone suffers from Compulsive Overeating means that they themselves have to know the warning signs. The body suffers complications when it sustains the abuse of overeating, it becomes fatigued and there is a chance of suffering from weight-related hypertension, a much higher risk of diabetes and a risk of dangerously high blood pressure.

Compulsive Overeating is almost always an attempt to cover up other unseen concerns. Food may be used to battle stress, low self-esteem, anxiety, and depression but the attempts are ineffective because of the guilt and shame that somebody with such a problem will experience from overeating. Rehab can help unleash these feelings through professional counselling, and get to the root of the problem. Compulsive Overeating usually starts gradually; sometimes this begins as early as childhood. It could also manifest when people begin to find comfort in foods and turn to eating when they are anxious or emotionally troubled. The destruction continues as they learn to rely on food that makes them feel better. Overeating is an endless cycle that won’t stop until those suffering seek help.
