Trauma and Re-Parenting Model Training

Training on "The Trauma and Re-Parenting Model," based on the pioneering work on Co-Dependency by Pia Mellody, is designed to introduce the concept of developmental immaturity to counsellors and therapists who work with trauma and co-dependence issues.

The premise of Pia Mellody's work is that childhood trauma, including child abuse and neglect, is the origin of developmental immaturity.

The training is divided into two parts.

 In part 1, participants will:

•    Be able to identify the core issues and the five secondary symptoms of developmental immaturity

•    Become familiar with the concepts of the wounded child, the adapted adult child and functioning adult

•    Become familiar with the impact that the family of origin play in development and practice techniques to assist clients in identifying their childhood traumas

•    Become familiar and observe 3 experiential techniques in working with clients: Debriefing, Inner Child and Feeling Reduction

In part 2, participants will:

•    Review in-depth the Inner Child and the Feeling Reduction techniques presented in part one

•    Have the opportunity to observe and practice first hand experiential trauma work (Inner Child and Feeling Reduction) under the supervision of highly trained therapists

Part 2 will also allow the participants to develop further their ability to integrate the model into their own therapeutic practice.
