Comment on Sick And Tired of Being Sick and Tired… Addiction, and The Help You Need by Katie Mascellani http://www.one40.org.uk/news/sick-and-tired-of-being-sick-and-tired-addiction-and-the-help-you-need/#comment-137856 Fri, 21 Aug 2015 10:12:38 +0000 http://www.one40.org.uk/news/?p=438#comment-137856 Hi, my name is Katie. I’m 40 years old that has spent half my life using heroin and a quarter of it on Methadone. My husband is the same.
I came across the idea that people relapse due to an imbalance of the chemicals in the brain. I felt frustrated as I couldn’t find anywhere that would tell me how I could build those chemicals back up in my brain whilst reducing my methadone which has lead me to top up and go up and down on my methadone so many times. I’m surrounded by dealers and get texts everyday telling me they’re available if I want to buy stuff. I’m kinda at my wits end as the viscous circle of not having big blocks of time free to go into rehab due to having two children and s job and a husband that had a busy full time job an hour away from home everyday of the week. Also the financial factor leaves us living pay cheque to pay cheque with no spare cash or savings.
Can you see any way of helping at all or will the financial factor be the only frustrating reason I have to carry on this show until God knows when. Please can u offer any advice .
I am having auric healing with a very nice man who is in contact with possibly a director or owner of your whole Harley Street rehab which gave me hope that my dreams of coming to u are manifesting.
I am awakening to my spiritual path and realise the void I was/ having to fill with drugs and alcohol to make me feel happy or to numb the voice questioning ” is this all there is to life” when actually is was/has take me further away from the spiritual path. I now know that void can be filled with joy and love if I can raise my vibration. Methadone is lowering and dulling it all. This knowledge frustrates me even more. It’s all my own doing but I need help to undo it and grow spiritually.
So on that note I leave you and hope to receive an email from you soon. Even if it’s advice on possibly coming to you in the future.
Thank you for your time Katie Mascellani.

Comment on The Kids Are Not Alright. The Lows of Legal Highs by Chris http://www.one40.org.uk/news/the-kids-are-not-alright-the-lows-of-legal-highs/#comment-132748 Thu, 25 Jun 2015 07:42:53 +0000 http://www.one40.org.uk/news/?p=395#comment-132748 I found the feature really interesting Suzanne . The whole legal high problem is definitely very significant. What also needs to be highlighted is the massive market for benzo analogues which behave exactly like their better known cousins but are currently completely legal and sold openly online. Benzo addiction and withdrawal/detox can be extremely difficult to say the least ( in the case of heavy users it’s more difficult to come off benzos than to withdraw from heroin, in fact a friend of mine told me that coming off opiates was ‘a picnic in comparison’). GPs often don’t understand how to deal with this addiction and if/when the blanket ban on legal highs is properly enforced they’ll need to be prepared for some new challenges.

It’s actually: ‘betel nut’

I actually put on weight in recovery when I stopped smoking – how does that correlate with your scientific study ? is it because, in your ever so un-humble opinion, I’m an overeater or suffering from an eating disorder ?
